After professional training in carpentry and building technology, Sigvaldi Thordarson started architectural studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 1938. In 1940, he returned to Iceland and opened an architectural office in Reykjavík with architect Gísli Halldórsson. In 1945, he returned to Copenhagen and completed his degree two years later. Between 1948 and 1951, he was director of the Architectural Office of the Federation of Iceland Cooperative Societies (SÍS). >>
