born in Kongsberg.   1924
 
graduated in architecture in Oslo.   1949
 
joined Pagon (Progressive Architects Group Oslo Norway), the Norwegian section of the CIAM.   1950
 
journey to Morocco.   1952-53
 
lived in Paris and worked in the studio of Jean Prouvé. Frequented the Le Corbusier's studio.   1953-54
 
appointed professor at the School of Architecture in Oslo, where he would teach until 1995. He has also taught at the Architectural Association School in London, the University of Yale, the Cooper Union of New York. He is an honorary member of the Association of Norwegian Architects, the American Institute of Architects, the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Royal Academy of Sweden, the Academy of Fine Arts of Copenhagen, the Royal Incorporation of Architects of Scotland, the Association of Finnish Architects.   1971
